Dear Patriot Guard
Riders,
I want to say thank
you for coming out today to welcome
the soldiers from Ft Drum. One
of the soldiers stopped me on the way
out to let me know that they were, as
he put it "floored by
everything" today. Robin Barnes
the Chaplain of the Blue Star
Mothers of Dayton told me that
they were elated when they found out
that you all were going to be there.
As you know ours is a
"mission of appreciation"
and I consider it an honor and
privilege to be able to show that
appreciation and shake the hands of
our real heroes. I also consider it
an honor to be involved with the
Patriot Guard.
Today when those young
men of the 2nd Battalion,87th
Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat
Team walked through that row of
flags, I teared up. I realized that
before me stood the backbone of our
country. Men and woman like you who
have served and continue to serve,
and or course the new generation of
those who are fighting for freedom.
It was a sight that I wished many
more could see. I simply can not put
into words everything that I felt.
It gives me
hope to know that there are
still people out there like you who
respect our flag and honor those who
have fought and died for our freedom.
