He was born on June
1, 1954 in Fremont, Ohio to the late Willie R. Smith and
JoAnne (Wolf) Johnston. He was a 1972 Graduate of
Sandusky High School and received his associates

Robert was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served in
Thailand during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders and served as
State Captain for many years, the American Legion post
#83 and the AMVETS post #17.
Tater enjoyed fishing, touring on his motorcycle with his
wife Sue Ann, was an avid pool player serving as
President of the Cue Club, and most of all spending time
with his family especially his grandchildren. Tater
always went out of his way to help his family, friends,
strangers and animals. Tater is survived by his wife Sue
Ann (Sevenbergen) whom he married on August 28, 1993, two
sons Joshua (Angie) Smith of Sandusky; and Mark Smith of
Clarksville, Tennessee, and two daughters Christina
(Christopher) Gardner and Amy Ryan both of Sandusky and
15 Grand Children.
Tater was devoted to the Patriot Guard and in the early
days we rode all over the state of Ohio doing mission. We
put in some long days but he loved to Honor his fellow
brothers and sisters in arms.
Sue Ann made alot of those missions as well. It was a
labor of love that drove both of them to be where ever we
Tater will be missed but never forgotten. Like those he
stood long hours for he left his mark on those he
touched. Thank you for your leadership, friendship and
your Service to our Great Nation. Rest easy my friend.
